The Lewisburg Saddle gates are located along NW Sulphur Springs Road between NW Lewisburg Avenue and NW Soap Creek Drive. The Lewisburg Saddle gate is home to an information kiosk with brochures, as well as a port-a-potty. To access Ridge Trail, follow the 600 Road west. Ridge Trail will be located on the northern side of the 600 Road. The end of Ridge Trail is located at the junction of the 600 Road and the 620 Road. Ridge Trail is a multiple-use trail open year-round to hikers, bikers, and equestrians. Ridge Trail passes through an area of McDonald Forest that is managed as mature forest for many types of wildlife to call home. Some tree species grown within this area are harvested to produce wood products used for building materials. Ridge Trail is one of the newer trails in the forest and is a pleasure to hike or ride in either direction. This trail is two-thirds of a mile long with a 90 feet gain in elevation. Although this trail is relatively short, it climbs significantly in elevation. Due to its popularity and high use, this trail can get muddy in the rainy season!
