Scout Trail is the only maintained trail within Dunn Forest. The Dunn Forest is located north of the McDonald Forest along Tampico Road. To access Scout Trail, park at the 200 Road gate of the Dunn Forest and follow the road south. The entrance to the trail is located on the south side of the road. Dunn Forest is actively logged, so be sure to read warning signs posted in the forest and keep eyes and ears open! Scout Trail passes through the area of Dunn Forest that is being actively managed for high-yield wood production. This area of the forest demonstrates plantations with relatively short rotations that emphasize high yields of Douglas-fir wood. The wood produced in this area is used mainly for building materials. Scout Trail is three-quarters of a mile long with a 64 feet gain in elevation. This is a multiple-use trail open year-round to hikers, bikers, and equestrians. Scout Trail was built on an old logging road and now offers visitors access to the 110 Road from the 200 Road. Scout Trail crosses the south fork of Berry Creek. Although this trail crosses a creek, no bridge has been constructed yet. Please use caution when crossing the creek!
